Cynthia Ann Crawford, born 20 February 1966, is an American actress, model and TV host. In the 1990s and 1980s she was a renowned supermodel with a prominent appearance on magazines and runways and also in fashion advertisements. Later, she ventured into acting and began a business. When she was in her sophomore year at high school, she was contacted by an inquiry from a local retailer regarding modeling work which she later discovered was a joke by two of her fellow classmates. Crawford was among the high school girls hired by another retailer, who also had a fashion shoot. In her senior year local photographer Roger Legel, whose duties included photographing another college student to be the week's coed in DeKalb Nite Weekly, asked to photograph Crawford for the magazine; the result was Crawford's first cover. The picture and the positive comments the magazine received helped inspire her to start modeling. At first, she worked at a small agency. Elite Model Management sold her to the agency shortly after she signed. At 17 years old she participated in Elite's Look of the Year contest and reached the national finals.
